Dancing With The Stars’ Hannah Brown broke down behind the scenes after Monday’s Halloween episode of the show. The Bachelorette star explained her disconnect on Instagram the following day.
Brown’s season of The Bachelorette was one of the most dramatic and controversial seasons ever for the ABC program. The former pageant queen’s season brought to light controversial subjects such as slut-shaming, religion, and when it’s time to walk away from a relationship. Brown shocked audiences when she broke off her engagement to Jed Wyatt after it was revealed that he was in a relationship when he came on the show. Needless to say, it was an emotional season for Brown and she was open with her fans about the mental toll the process took on her. After her tough time on The Bachelorette, she went on Dancing with the Stars hoping that she would be able to redeem herself, but that has put a lot of pressure on her as well.
According to Us Weekly, Brown was extremely emotional after performing this past Monday night. She took to Instagram the following day explaining that her Dancing With The Stars experience “has been harder than I could have ever imagined.” Hopeful in her ability to channel the newfound confidence she gained after the “beating” she took in her season of The Bachelorette, Brown says she “came into [the Dancing With The Stars] experience a little broken and confused.” Those emotions were displayed in her performance on October 28. Carrie Ann Inaba, one of Dancing With The Stars three pro-dancer judges, noticed Brown’s struggle, stating that she was “disconnected from the movements.” Inaba sympathized with Brown, stating, “I know it’s hard to do but if you open up and let it go raw out here, we will be here for you.” Brown’s partner, Alan Bersten, agreed with Inaba’s sentiments, claiming, “Hannah is incredible but she’s a bit insecure and I’ve been working so hard to get it.“In her post on Instagram last Tuesday, Brown explained her struggle with confidence - check out the full post below:
Brown wrote in the caption, “I know I have a lot more I can give. I want to be able to feel free and confident to dance with my whole heart. I’m working on getting there.” Assuring fans that she wasn’t throwing a pity party, Brown went on to explain “I can take criticism and understand hard work … and I also know that my attitude has to change to rise above this slump I’m in. But this is real life. These are real emotions. It’s okay to be grateful and positive, while also acknowledging the hard days we all have.” Brown continued, “It’s so important to think positively, but it’s also important to acknowledge and feel all the feels.”
Brown has definitely proven herself as one of the show’s frontrunners this season, but after some shocking eliminations thus far, the pressure to do better is on. Brown’s best performance, a Foxtrot to Aladdin’s “A Whole New World” on Disney night landed her 25 points. While it’s clear Brown isn’t a stranger to reality television, it’s evident that she’s having some difficulty tackling the new dance skills she’s tasked with learning each week. With only a few weeks remaining in the competition, fans are excited to see Brown turn her attitude around and continue to prove that she can take on anything.
