Daniel Radcliffe has created an interesting and impressive filmography for himself over the past few years, choosing to star in unique independent films like Swiss Army Man or The Woman in Black rather than the large tentpole projects some fans might have thought. No matter what the actor does next, though, Radcliffe will always be most well-known for and most commonly associated with his iconic role as the titular Boy Who Lived in the Harry Potter film franchise. After playing the character for over a decade, his turn as the beloved character came to an end with 2011’s critically acclaimed Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

Ever since Radcliffe took off those round glasses and lightning bolt scar, he’s been predictably asked quite a bit about possibly returning to the franchise sometime down the line. And with the release of the Potter prequel film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and the long-gap sequel play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, last year, those rumors and conversations have only continued to grow as of late.

During a recent interview with Good Morning Britain, Radcliffe talked about his continued love for the franchise and its fans, even as he continues to move onto different, lesser known projects. But when asked if he’d ever want to appear in another Potter film, the actor replied:

This is the same sentiment that a number of the other main cast members from the franchise have reiterated over the years since the film series’ conclusion as well, with all of the Harry Potter stars open to the idea of returning, depending on the quality of the new story and the timing of it all. Fans would, no doubt, demand a return from Radcliffe along with, at the very least, Emma Watson as Hermione Granger and Rupert Grint as Ronald Weasley, if there was ever another film considering just how integral all three of those actors ended up being to the franchise in the end.

“Oh, I don’t know. I’m not sure, that’s a long way off isn’t it? I mean, Harry’s gotten a bit older now. I really don’t know, I think that’s all highly theoretical talk. If it ever became more than theoretical, I would, of course, think about it.”

There have been a number of rumors about Warner Bros. already developing a film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, possibly to be made and released years from now when all five of the Fantastic Beasts films have hit theaters. Whether or not that’s true is still unknown, but that hasn’t stopped fans and the cast members themselves from speculating about the possibility of it. Even despite the play’s divisive reception, it appears to be something that not only the fans are receptive to, but also the cast members themselves. Now, all that waits to be seen is if it’ll actually come to fruition in a few years.
