In Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, spell energy makes the world go round, and we’ve put together a guide to help you collect enough spell energy to keep playing. One of the most critical parts of gameplay in Wizards Unite is casting spells, but spells require a certain amount of spell energy. A wizard without spell energy cannot cast spells, and is, therefore, useless.
Fortunately, understanding spell energy and how it works isn’t complicated. Niantic, the developer behind Pokemon GO, also created Wizards Unite, so one might think of the game as Pokemon GO meets Harry Potter. In Wizards Unite, spell energy is similar to Pokeballs, and it must be collected and maintained to continue playing the game. Spell energy is extremely limited, though, and running out means waiting for a set amount of time to pass for that energy to recharge. Running out of spell energy is frustrating, but there are certain things players can do to maintain enough spell energy to cast the spells they want.
Of course, impatient players can get more spell energy by spending real-world money at the in-game store, Diagon Alley. There, players can purchase coins with which they can buy more spell energy. It costs $0.99 for 80 coins, with 50 energy costing 150 coins. That comes out to around $2 for a 50 spell energy refill. However, there are some free ways to obtain spell energy within the game. Here’s a guide to collect the most spell energy possible.
Log in to Wizards Unite
The easiest way to collect spell energy with minimal effort is to log in to the game daily. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite has a monthly calendar that offers different rewards every day. Once a week, though, the calendar offers a reward of free spell energy, but that is only available if a player has logged into the game every day that week. Eventually, all that spell energy will add up.
Participate in daily assignments
Another great way to collect spell energy is to check the list of daily tasks within the game: there will be at least one assignment every day that will yield anywhere from 5 to 10 spell energy. To do this, tap the icon on the bottom right-hand corner of the screen with the calendar and check mark. These tasks are usually pretty easy, and doing them every day means that the spell energy continues to add up.
Visit Inns
In Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, Inns are represented by real-world locations. To interact with such a place, players will need to go there physically: once in range, it becomes larger on the map screen, and eventually, a player can tap on the Inn within the game to enter it. Once inside, dine there and pick a meal: each meal will give the player a certain amount of spell energy. But don’t just stop there, keep walking to find other Inns to dine in, too. Each Inn can be visited multiple times, but players must wait five minutes between meals to do so.
Visit Greenhouses
Although Greenhouses are great places to collect resources for potions and other items, they also occasionally provide spell energy, too. When entering a Greenhouse, players can pick one of three potted plants for a reward. Although the reward is usually something related to Herbology, sometimes it also includes a few points of spell energy. Greenhouses don’t give as much spell energy as inns, but every little bit of energy counts.
Using spell energy as efficiently as possible
Before a battle in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, players should always check how much spell energy they have. Click on the suitcase icon, which represents the vault, to check. Also, be sure to stock up on spell energy before entering combat. It’s also a good idea to bring friends along for battles, not only because it makes beating an enemy easier, but also because the cost of spell energy is split among everyone fighting.
