Hasbro has unveiled a new range of Star Wars collectibles: the miniature ‘Micro Force’ figurines line, the first wave of which will reach shop shelves in December. Characters from every era of the Star Wars movies are present and correct in miniature form, covering the original trilogy, the prequels, the sequels, and anthology flick Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Hasbro is launching some more Star Wars toys in December. After all, Star Wars: The Last Jedi releases in the middle of the month, and it is bound to prompt renewed interest in the franchise that George Lucas started. Lucasfilm/Disney recently announced that The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson will go on to make a whole new trilogy of Star Wars films, suggesting that they are incredibly happy with what he delivered with the sequel to The Force Awakens. Of course, the toymakers of the world want to cash in on that.

Hasbro’s Star Wars Micro Force range will be released as a set of blind bags, each containing a single one-inch-tall figure. Here’s an image of the first wave, which features such iconic characters as Han Solo, Boba Fett, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, R2-D2, C-3PO, Ahsoka Tano, Chewbacca, and Yoda:

And here’s the second wave, which features the likes of BB-8, Darth Maul, Rey, Finn, Captain Phasma, Jyn Erso, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Kylo Ren, the Emperor, and Yoda’s Force Ghost:

You’ll notice that the Micro Force range is very different to the other styles in Hasbro’s vast catalog of Star Wars figures. They are far simpler and smaller than both the Star Wars Black Series range and the main line of Star Wars action figures. Speaking to StarWars.com, Hasbro’s Andy Ochiltree explained that “it was really important to us that Micro Force had a design language all its own.” He also stated that the goal with this new range “is to celebrate these beloved characters in a way that feels fresh and most importantly, fun.”

However, there is an argument to be made the blind bags are not particularly fun. As cute as these figures are, some fans may resent the process of buying Micro Force figures blind and running the risk of spending money on doubles. The Micro Force toys will surely be cheaper than most Star Wars products, but nobody likes wasting money on stuff they already.
