It’s official! Hawkeye is getting a Disney Plus series. And Kate Bishop is coming along for the ride. For those that don’t know who Kate Bishop is, she’s Hawkeye. Well, she’s another Hawkeye. She carries the name and is even an archer like Clint. But they’re both very different. And both are acting as heroes under the Hawkeye mantle at the same time. It can get a little confusing.

The Disney Plus series is going to give everyone a chance to see characters and plots that the MCU likely won’t be touching again anytime soon. After everything that has been happening in the movies, there are some characters we desperately want to see again. And then there are characters that we don’t want to see again, for one reason or another. And before you ask, we’re going to just go ahead and leave Clint’s family off the list, because we’re just assuming they’ll be present.

This article contains spoilers for Avengers: Endgame.

Return: Nick Fury

Nick Fury is an obvious choice for who we’d like to see transition into the Disney Plus series. Hawkeye had been a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent at one point, after all. We don’t know much about his status now after this little Ronin phase, but we’d like to think that Fury would still lean on him from time to time.

Clint Barton was actually a fantastic agent and spy, even if the MCU didn’t always make him appear to be one. And now that Barton has likely stepped down from the Avengers, it’d be nice to see him continue working in some capacity. However, Kate Bishop and Nick Fury don’t have the same working relationship. It would be both interesting and funny to see how the MCU decided to interpret that one.

Don’t Want To See: Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff)

We’re going to put Black Widow on the list of characters we don’t want to see in this series. And we mean no offense to her character. The opposite, in fact. There was so much impact through what had been done to her character during Avengers: Endgame. We don’t want to see all of that undone by some cheap comic magic.

We’d be fine with flashbacks and the like. But likely both the actress and character will be too busy filming her solo movie to consider doing a cameo or two.

Return: Maria Hill

Maria Hill is another logical character we’re hoping to see in the Hawkeye series. She’s one of the few named S.H.I.E.L.D. characters in the MCU, and as stated above, Barton is/was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. So it isn’t much of a stretch.

Hill hasn’t had much of a chance to show off in her last couple of appearances. Yes, we know. There were much larger events happening, so there was a good reason to focus on things other than her. But here’s a chance to include her just a little bit more.

Don’t Want To See: Captain America (Steve Rogers)

No offense meant to Steve Rogers, but we hope we don’t see him in the Disney Plus series. This has more to do with everything done to his character than any repulsion to seeing him again. Captain America had his moment. And then he got his ending, too. We don’t want to see anything happen that could put any of that in jeopardy.

Plus, as mentioned above with Black Widow, we don’t want to have the impact of what happened taken away. Nor do we want to diminish the other characters that have been stepping up to the plate (Falcon and Winter Soldier, in this case).

Return: Baron Strucker/A.I.M.

Okay, so we know that in the MCU Baron Strucker is actually dead. We’re well aware of that fact. But there are plenty of other antagonists that could step up and take charge of A.I.M. in his place. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had his son do it, so we know there are possibilities.

Strucker is a classic antagonist for Hawkeye (the Clint Barton version, that is). So it’s a shame that his character was taken away before the two had much of a chance to go after one another. We’re really hoping this series fixes that somehow.

Don’t Want To See: Hulk (Bruce Banner)

What they’ve been doing with the Hulk in the MCU has been fascinating. That being said, we think it’s better that it stays in the format it is. Having an appearance from Hulk would alter the threats in the series (since what both Hawkeyes can deal with is very different from what Hulk/Banner can handle). It would also take away from what they’re doing with the Hulk (if anything, that seems to be a little up in the air at this point).

In the comics, Hulk and Hawkeye have a… complicated relationship. It’d be difficult to replicate, without also having all of the backstory to go with it. Since we can’t have that, it’s probably for the best if they just have these characters keep their distance.

Return: Mockingbird

Mockingbird technically only made an appearance in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series, which may or may not be MCU canon, depending on who you ask. Regardless of that answer, we want to see her make an appearance in this series.

Mockingbird is a great partner for Hawkeye in both senses of the world. She has worked with him in the past. And at one point they were even married, though relationships between spies don’t seem to work in the long run. Not for Marvel characters, at least.

Don’t Want To See: Iron Man (Tony Stark)

Like most of the other characters we’ve mentioned not wanting to see again, our lack of desire to see a Tony Stark appearance here has more to do with respect. What happened to Iron Man in Endgame was quite possibly the biggest upset in the MCU, and it isn’t something they should diminish lightly.

There are ways they could do a Tony Stark cameo without having it be Tony Stark, of course (his A.I. being the most obvious example). But honestly? We think they need to give us fans a break before they do something like that to us. And it wouldn’t be a bad idea to save that for a bigger moment (like the next Avengers movie).

Return: Sharon Carter

The MCU spent some time building up Sharon Carter’s character; however, it ultimately didn’t end up going anywhere. And now at least part of her plot is lost for good, thanks to the events in Endgame. But there’s still plenty she could do – especially if they include her in the Disney Plus series.

Sharon’s character could easily step up and fill the void that Nick Fury left behind. We know that Fury isn’t dead, but he does seem to be focusing on different things as of late. Sharon could continue the focus and progress we already saw from her. Just sans the romantic subplot.

Don’t Want To See: Thor

Thor is another character we’d rather not see make an appearance in this series. And the reason is similar to others mentioned above. He just has so much happening in his own plot right now. He’s still coping with all of the losses and changes in his life, he may or may not be joining the Guardians of the Galaxy, and, of course, there’s the news about Thor: Love and Thunder. He doesn’t need to be dealing with more right now.

Plus, as mentioned above with Hulk, having Thor appear would significantly change the power levels involved in a fight. Hawkeye (both versions) does a decent job of dealing with threats of all levels. But it would be more interesting to see some of the more human level threats. At least, for a time.
