Hawkeye gets his own Avengers: Infinity War character poster in the vein of the recently released official hero posters thanks to digital artist BossLogic. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes gear up for their most dangerous and important mission yet - to make sure that intergalactic villain Thanos doesn’t get his hands on the six mystical Infinity Stones. But while they’ve gotten new teammates, the Avengers seem to have forgotten one of their longtime allies - Clint Barton, making him the butt of online jokes for quite some time now.
Given his noticeable absence from the Infinity War marketing despite his status as an original Avenger, fans have taken it upon themselves to create promo materials for the bow and arrow-using hero. Over the last few months, several unofficial renders have come out, with the Russo brothers even using one as their Facebook header photo. So when Marvel Studios rolled out several new character posters, it was safe to assume that a Hawkeye fan-edit would imminently follow. Hours after, a glorious Clint render started circulating online to the delight of his many fans
Coming from the digital artist BossLogic, who has made several creative Infinity War edits, a brand new poster features Hawkeye. Mining design elements from the official ones, the Avengers’ resident marksman is front and center on the one-sheet. However, unlike previous fan-made posters, Clint goes full-on Ronin in this one - complete with an entirely different ensemble than what fans have seen him sport in his MCU appearances. Take note, however, that the suit design is not official, and is more likely inspired by the character’s black with hints of yellow fight garb from the comic book and with what we’ve seen in set photos. This is not the first time that Hawkeye is imagined as Ronin in a mock-up poster. Earlier this year, a monochromatic illustration reimagined Clint as Ronin in his own spin-off film. It has a totally different vibe from the one BossLogic has created - proof that people’s visualization of how the masterless samurai can be adapted to the big screen varies. It’ll be interesting to see Marvel Studios’ version, but given that the company has taken creative liberties when it comes to how their heroes’ suits appear, chances are that it’ll be the same with this one.
With Clint mostly absent in Avengers: Infinity War marketing (he’s included in the first official ensemble poster released and also received a purple-colored bow and arrow set tie-in merchandise), it’s more likely that he won’t be prominently featured in the forthcoming Marvel film. The Russos have already confirmed that the marksman has his own thing going on, which is likely connected to his personal arc of eventually assuming the persona of Ronin in Avengers 4. If anything, fans may only see him towards the end of the movie as a set-up for his big character trajectory in next year’s sequel - coinciding with the filmmakers’ promise that those who got less screen time in Avengers 3 will get their due in its still-untitled follow-up.
