A new range of Hellboy Funko Pops has been revealed. This collection of cute figures has been announced just as the character’s popularity is preparing for a major resurgence. David Harbour of Stranger Things is set to play Hellboy in a movie reboot, with Game of Thrones alum Neil Marshall calling the shots. Fans have already been mocking up what Harbour might look like in the title role, as anticipation builds for the film’s release.

The Hellboy reboot is “not really an origin story movie”, and will star Milla Jovovich as the villainous Blood Queen. This evil presence is so vital to the film that it was originally titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen. The movie’s moniker was simplified recently – now it’s just Hellboy – but fans are still hoping for big things. As is Mike Mignola, the comic book writer that created Hellboy, who has expressed an interest in kicking off a shared universe with this flick.

Even Funko’s getting in on the act with a series of Funko Pops based on the comic characters (via Bloody Disgusting). Included in the set are two variants of Hellboy, Liz Sherman, Abe Sapian, Rasputin, The Queen of Blood and Lobster Johnson. You can check them out of the gallery below.

Considering the impending reboot, it’s no surprise that Funko is getting ahead of the curve. By producing a range of Hellboy figures based on the comic book versions of these characters, the toy company has ensured that there will be something on shop shelves when trailers start arriving and the hype for the reboot intensifies. In the typical Funko fashion, the designs here are pretty simple, but nonetheless awesome.

It’s particularly telling that Funko has given The Blood Queen her own figure. These toys may officially be in the brand’s ‘comics’ range, but they’re surely intended to allude to the upcoming movie. This range is in a prime position to profit as hype for the film grows. It’s been suggested that the Hellboy movie reboot could arrive in late 2018, but this range of figures will precede it significantly by hitting stores in the fall of 2017.

Interestingly, besides Hellboy and The Blood Queen, it hasn’t been confirmed who will play the other characters from this range in the upcoming Hellboy movie. Ian McShane will play Professor Broom, Ed Skrein has been cast as Major Ben Daimio, and American Honey’s Sasha Lane is lined up to portray Alice Monaghan. But Liz Sherman, Abe Sapien and Rasputin have not had their actors announced as of yet.

Harbour has recently explained how his Hellboy will differ from Ron Perlman’s, saying that his version “struggles with his own masculinity” and is “a little less skilled at constructing that persona.” It’ll be interesting to see what the design of the character ends up looking like, and how closely it resembles the Funko version.
