Harry Potter sure hit us with some of the most gut-wrenching deaths in fiction - be it the loss of Fred Weasley, Dobby’s sacrifice, or Hedwig’s untimely death. We were devastated when Remus and Tonks died, especially just after they’d become a couple and had a son together, and Sirius’ death at the end of Order of the Phoenix hit many fans like a bolt from the blue. The Harry Potter movies were astounding and brought even more fans into the fandom. Coming in at eight movies, a total run-time of 1,178 minutes. And that’s not counting the Fantastic Beasts movies. The Harry Potter movies play host to a number of amazing and beautiful locations, each one wanting you to live in the Potterverse more than the next. Whether it be the beauty of Hogwarts castle itself, the darkness of the Forbidden Forrest or even the coziness of The Burrow, there’s no denying that the movies succeeded in making the world as immersive and spectacular as possible. BBC and HBO’s new series His Dark Materials has set an official November release date. Based on the young adult book series of the same name by British author Philip Pulman, the fantasy epic follows a young girl named Lyra Belacqua who sets out on a journey to find her best friend who has mysteriously gone missing in the midst of a series of child abductions. The story is set in a world that strikingly resembles the UK’s Victorian-era but, unlike our world, people’s souls exist outside of their bodies as creatures called dæmons....

In Harry Potter, there are many characters that start out on the side of the dark arts and have somewhat of a redemption arc. One notable example of this is Draco Malfoy. While his redemption arc doesn’t get as much attention as Snape’s, he was also quite young when he got pulled into the side of the Death Eaters because of his parents. He grows up to be not nearly as bad as he was raised to be....

As far as Harry Potter Hogwarts houses are concerned, it’s Gryffindors and Slytherins that are usually discussed. In the books, Gryffindor gets the most coverage because Harry - and most of his friends - are Gryffindors. This also means that Gryffindor is presented in a somewhat biased light. Since most of the villains are Slytherins, they also get discussed often, but usually in a negative light. The other two houses might not get as much coverage, but they definitely deserve more exploration....

After announcing its new entertainment hub “+play” back in March with support for many of the major streaming services, Verizon is adding another big one today. HBO Max is now part of +play to make it easier for customers to manage and save money on all their subscriptions in one place. Verizon detailed the news in a press release today: HBO Max joins Disney+, Netflix, discovery+, AMC+, Peloton, and more for Verizon’s streaming service hub....

Heading into WWDC, Apple isn’t exactly getting off to the best of starts. While outlining my view of Apple’s overall handling of the antitrust charges leveled against it, I mentioned one of the specific issues the company faces: the nature of its relationship with developers. Twenty-four hours later, things have gotten worse rather than better. First, Microsoft said that Apple and Google have a bigger antitrust case to answer than the Redmond company did some twenty years ago....

Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet is slated to launch on Apple TV+ this Friday, February 7th. It’s the first comedy that will arrive on Apple’s streaming service and we got a first look trailer giving a better idea of what to expect from the show as well as some commentary from the cast and co-creator/executive producer/star Rob McElhenney. Mythic Quest was created by It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia alum Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Megan Ganz....

For many Mac users, one of the top features of macOS 10.14 Mojave will be the new Home app and support for controlling HomeKit devices with Siri on the Mac. Both of these have been sorely missed in previous versions of macOS, but Mojave is finally changes things… Home app First and foremost, macOS 10.14 features a new Home app. As Apple explained on stage at WWDC, this is one of the applications it brought from iOS to macOS using new cross-platform frameworks....

The witches and wizards in the Harry Potter universe are gifted with extraordinary abilities in magic. Even the witches and wizards that are nearly squibs would undoubtedly be envied by the powerless muggle world, and once the magicians in the Harry Potter world have the appropriate tools and training they can often make near miracles happen with nothing more than a flick of their wand. A wizard’s wand is like a funnel for their magical power, it allows them to concentrate their energies in order to more powerfully and effectively cast spells....

It’s still hard to believe that Harry Potter wrapped up all the way back in 2011. It was the story of many childhoods; the teenage boy who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, befriended the likes of Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, and went on to defeat Lord Voldemort. While the books were a blockbuster event in themselves, the movie’s meant that the story of the youngster was able to be told on the silver screen....

The Severus Snape audiences met in the Harry Potter films is not exactly the character that was shown in the books. In 1997, readers all over the world were introduced to J.K Rowling’s fantasy universe in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which was the beginning of a saga that ended ten years later with a total of seven novels. The saga was adapted to the big screen from 2001 to 2011 with the last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, divided into two films....

HBO’s TV series Watchmen, led by showrunner and devoted fan of the series Damon Lindelof, is set 34 years after the events of Dave Gibbons and Alan Moore’s classic DC limited series. Eagle-eyed viewers will note that some of the show’s scenes look familiar; this is because episode directors Nicole Kassell, Stephen Williams, Andrij Parekh, and Steph Green have included some of Watchmen’s most iconic images in the HBO adaptation....

Over the 18 seasons that this show has had, we’ve had some pretty close finale calls which ended up with disappointed viewers and fan of the show. Although we all trust Ramsay to choose the best man or woman for the job, there have been a few seasons where the winners were questionable....
