The common refrain from most Harry Potterfans is something along the lines of “the books were better.” It’s the basic argument that most agree with, and there’s certainly some merit to it. Many aspects of the book are more consistent and gripping than their filmed counterparts, and the movies often have to cut out parts of the book that are both wonderful and seemingly essential. Still, there are some places where the movies have a leg up on their literary counterparts....

Hayou Miyazaki is one of the legendary directors of modern cinema. The Japanese director and co-founder of Studio Ghibli has produced some of the most iconic films of the last several decades, including Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Princess Mononoke. While Miyazaki retired after the release of The Wind Rises in 2013, he has been working on a film entitled How Do You Live? since 2016, with Studio Ghibli also announcing that they are working on two new films in 2020....

HBO is being sued by Michael Jackson’s estate over their new documentary Leaving Neverland. The film premiered at last month’s Sundance Film Festival and created instant controversy among critics and fans of the deceased King of Pop. Clocking in with four hours of extensive detail, the documentary takes an unflinching look at Jackson’s alleged sexual abuse of young boys at his Neverland Ranch in the late 1980s and early 1990s....

HBO’s programming chief, Casey Bloys, has high hopes that the Watchmen TV show will get a series order “as soon as possible." Earlier this year, HBO announced that they issued a pilot order for a TV series based on the acclaimed graphic novel, Watchmen. HBO has been very tight-lipped about the series; however, the project is already generating a lot of buzz. Lost and Leftovers co-creator Damon Lindelof is set to be the showrunner for the Watchmen series, which is said to be a different take on the classic comic....

The latest expansion for Hearthstone, the online card game from Blizzard, has just been announced. It is scheduled to roll release sometime during the first week of next month. This expansion brings with it over 130 cool new cards and features a special dual-class group of cards that have multiple uses within each class. In other words, this will make the dual-class cards have the same value as a double major from school....

In the original Hellraiser movie, Kirsty Cotton comes face to terrifying face with The Engineer, one of Hell’s strangest and creepiest creatures. Seeing as it hails from the delightfully twisted mind of Clive Barker, it’s no wonder that the Hellraiser movie universe is one of the most visually striking in horror history. It’s also no wonder that Hellraiser is probably the mainstream franchise with the most “WTF?” moments in horror history, regularly featuring imagery likely to drop the jaw of even some of the most jaded fright fans....

The annual iPhone Photography Awards have recognized the top images taken with an iPhone as well as the top iPhone photographers for the last 9 years, and now this year’s winners have been unveiled. This year, “thousands” of images were submitted from photographers across 139 countries, but the grand price went to Chinese photographer Siyuan Niu for an image he called “Man and the Eagle.” According to Niu, the image depicts a 70-year-old man that is normally “rigid and solemn,” but when he’s with his “beloved eagle,” things are different....

Leave a Google+ Community Log in to your Google+ account and from the menu on the upper left, select Communities. Then select the community you want to leave under the Communities you’ve joined section. Next click the gear icon in the main community logo and then Leave community. After that verify that you want to leave the group, and that’s all there is to it! Sometimes Google’s design team doesn’t make their services user friendly, not that this is too difficult to figure out, but if you’ve been wondering how to leave a group, it can easily be done when you know where to look....

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is another fantastic adventure into the fantasy world of the Harry Potter, with the franchise continuing to take its turn into darker content as the threat of Lord Voldemort continues to increase. The movie is one of the strongest of the franchise, with its 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes reflecting that. The film has a very different feel to others within the series, which is one of the reasons that it stands out....

Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody from Harry Potter might be one of the most intriguing professors to ever teach at Hogwarts. Given how many interesting characters had the job of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, this is really saying a lot. While most of the time Harry knew Mad-Eye he was actually Barty Crouch Jr., the real Mad-Eye wasn’t all that different than the acting Barty Crouch Jr. was doing. The reign of Dolores Jane Umbridge over Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Harry Potter was mercifully brief, but that doesn’t mean that this pink tweed-clad toad didn’t manage to do a lot of damage to the school or it’s students during her stay. Umbridge was a teacher who hated students and an educator who hated learning, and her only pleasure in life seemed to come from dominating, abusing, and humiliating people that she had power over....

It’s fair to say that Marvel Studios’ 2011 effort Captain America: The First Avenger contained quite a few memorable supporting characters, but arguably the most beloved was Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell). Just as tough and capable on the job as she was beautiful and charming off the clock, Atwell’s Carter made a huge impression on viewers, all the while she was stealing Steve Rogers’ heart on-screen. Of course, the fact that The First Avenger was a prequel film to the present day Avengers saga made further substantial appearances from Carter - at least the young version - in subsequent MCU films near impossible....
