AT&T’s acquisition of Time Warner will end the deal that included free HBO with unlimited mobile plans, except for existing customers. The offer of free HBO began in April 2017 (while AT&T was in the midst of a battle with the Department of Justice, who filed a lawsuit to oppose the merger) for AT&T Unlimited Plus customers, and the offer was extended to AT& Unlimited Choice customers in September 2017....
For me, the most fascinating thing about Heartbleed is that it is so banal. Such a mundane, textbook, well understood and well-worn coding error. A payload (message) sent by the client must be reflected back by the server, telling the server that the length is longer than the payload really was, leading it to read and reflect the message plus whatever was hanging around in nearby memory. What most people don’t seem to appreciate is that this isn’t some extraordinary deeply hidden and fiendishly difficult vulnerability to exploit or detect; once any researcher who can use a fuzzer turns their hand to the Heartbeat extension, they should surely spot the vulnerabilty … and yet, it went for two years in open source software until this finally happened....
Allstate Protection Plans is out today with the results from its iPhone SE 3 drop test. Interestingly, while the latest budget iPhone lacks the Ceramic Shield found on the iPhone 12 and 13, it was able to withstand a direct drop on its screen without cracking. While Apple is bringing a handful of new emoji to its users with the upcoming release of iOS 10.2, the Unicode Consortium today approved 51 new emoji as part of the Unicode 10 release. The new emoji are based on requests from third-parties to the consortium over the past year and include emoji representing breastfeeding and a hijab emoji, as well as many others (via Emojipedia). In total, there are 36 new face emoji coming as part of Unicode 10....

Hellraiser: Judgment director Gary J. Tunnicliffe feels the success of Scream led to Pinhead’s downfall. The original Hellraiser was the film debut of horror author Clive Barker and is a story filled with intense gore, kinky sex, and all manner of gruesome imaginary. While Pinhead soon became a horror icon after Hellraiser’s release, he’s only in the original for ten minutes, where he was originally credited as “Lead Cenobite.” When the series moved to Dimension for Hellraiser III: Hell On Earth, there was an attempt to make the franchise more commercial, and turn Pinhead into a Freddy Krueger-style character....
Henry Cavill’s preparation for reprising his role as Superman in Justice League included making an effort to learn more about the lore by reading several DC comics, including Rebirth.
