British actor Robert Hardy - known in recent years for playing Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge in the Harry Potter movies - has passed away at the age of 91, according to Variety. Hardy was born Timothy Sydney Robert Hardy in Cheltenham in 1925. While he was in school he was educated by famed authors C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. He left school for awhile and joined the Royal Air Force, but eventually returned to Oxford University and completed his degree....

December has already been a huge month for Marvel, with the studio dropping trailers for both Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming. While the hype surrounding both movies is going strong right now as a result, that doesn’t mean there’s going to be any let-up in the promotional campaigns for these respective Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Guardians will of course be bringing back a collection of characters that fans of the franchise will have already fallen in love with through the series’ first movie release in 2014, but Homecoming features a version of Spider-Man that has yet to get the spotlight to himself (after having played a small role in Captain America: Civil War this year)....

HBO programming chief Casey Bloys reveals that the network isn’t actively developing anymore Game of Thrones prequels. At one point, HBO was looking into up to five possible Game of Thrones spinoffs, but they said they would only pursue a spinoff show if they felt the story was good enough, not because they needed to expand the universe. Game of Thrones has been a heavy hitter for HBO ever since the show premiered in 2011....

French website Premiere (via DailyMail) just posted a few pictures of Ashton Kutcher acting like Steve Jobs under the influence of LSD during a scene shoot for the upcoming biopic on the late Apple co-founder. The actor appears delirious and euphoric with his arms outstretched while in the grassy California field. Jobs confessed on many occasions that the effects of LSD inspired him and served as one of the “most important experiences” of his life....

WarnerMedia’s streaming service HBO Max was officially launched in the US in May 2020, and it has already been made available in Latin America and the Caribbean. After just two episodes, HBO has ordered season 2 of its newest series, Succession. The dysfunctional family drama/dark comedy from Jesse Armstrong premiered at the beginning of June to mostly positive reviews from those who enjoyed the show’s acidic view of wealth and power from inside the fictional (but totally Murdoch-ian) Roy family, as questions arise as to who will take its media conglomerate Wyastar-Royco into the future when the health of family patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox) begins to decline....

The head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, has agreed to testify before Congress after the Instagram for kids controversy, which started at the beginning of the year. As reported by the New York Times, “Mr. Mosseri is expected to appear before a Senate panel during the week of Dec. 6 as part of a series of hearings on protecting children online, said Senator Richard Blumenthal, who will lead the hearing.” According to the publication, alongside Mosseri, Antigone Davis, the global head of safety for Meta, and Frances Haugen, a former Facebook employee turned whistle-blower, will be part of this testifying....
