Avenue 5 is HBO’s sci-fi comedy TV series, which marries the hyper-speed wit of Veep with the future-dystopian notes of PIXAR’s Wall-E. The show boasts a strong cast of comedic talent, with Hugh Laurie in the lead as the captain at the helm of Avenue 5, an interplanetary cruise ship owned by the Judd Corporation. When an unexpected technical error knocks the ship off course, the ship’s 5000 passengers find themselves trapped on a journey much longer than anyone had anticipated....

HBO’s Watchmen TV show is finally being unveiled, with a recent promo and collection of clips revealing some of the masked vigilantes who will be featured in this modern-day follow-up to the acclaimed graphic novel. Written by Alan Moore with artwork by artist Dave Gibbons and colorist John Higgins, Watchmen was a dark twist on the superhero genre set in an alternate world history. The TV series was created by Damon Lindelof (Lost) and will star Jeremy Irons, Frances Fisher, Tim Blake Nelson, Regina King, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Don Johnson, Tom Mison, Lou Gossett Jr....

Hellboy creator Mike Mignola has denied rumors that a reboot is currently in the works over at Netflix. Mignola’s character made his comic-book debut back in 1993. He was originally adapted for the big screen by Guillermo del Toro in 2004. A sequel, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, was released in 2008. Ron Perlman starred as the eponymous character in both outings. Even though fans clamored for Hellboy III for almost a decade, del Toro and Perlman couldn’t find a way to make it work....

The creators of Basecamp introduced a new email service this week, simply dubbed Hey. The subscription-based email service costs $99 per year, and that subscription is what’s now causing a battle between Basecamp and Apple’s App Store review team. Basecamp co-founder and CTO David Heinemeier Hansson took to Twitter this afternoon to detail the situation and offered up more information in an interview with Protocol. The initial 1.0 version of Hey was approved for the App Store, but when Zach Waugh, Basecamp’s lead iOS developer, submitted version 1....

iOS 13 includes long-awaited support for Dark Mode on iPhone. Apple offered a demo of the new design on stage, and now that iOS 13 is available in beta form, we’ve gotten a chance to try it out. HBO’s upcoming late-night series Random Acts of Flyness promises to be an experience unlike anything else on the network, and maybe anywhere else on television for that matter. The new series comes from artist, musician, and filmmaker Terence Nance, and is described by him as “a show about the beauty and ugliness of contemporary American life.” The first season will consist of six episodes, each made up of a series of vignettes featuring Nance and a revolving ensemble cast that will include a number of guest stars such as Dominique Fishback (The Deuce), Whoopi Goldberg, Gillian Jacobs (Love), Ntare Guma Mwine (The Chi), Adepero Oduye (The Big Short), Natalie Paul (The Deuce) and Paul Sparks (Boardwalk Empire)....

HBO will air Game of Thrones star Kit Harington’s Gunpowder miniseries exclusively in the United States this December. The three-part historical thriller also stars Peter Mullan, Mark Gatiss, Liv Tyler, and more. It was written by Ronan Bennett, known for the series Top Boy, directed by J Blakeson, known for The Disappearance of Alice Creed, and produced by Kudos in association with Thriker Films for BBC One.
